Bush Says He Will Veto Any Bill to Stop UAE Port Deal

Feb/21 - WASHINGTON - In a rare threat to use his veto power, President Bush said Tuesday he will veto any legislation that attempts to stop the purchase by a United Arab Emirates-owned firm of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co., which runs six major U.S. port authorities (23 ports-not really 6). George, George, George, well if this is worth your entire legacy, go ahead veto it. Hillary thanks you, Schumer thanks you, Even Jimmy Carter thanks you. Hell's bells, probably even Usama thanks you. Now you, singlehandedly will give the Democrats their 2008 platform. And they didn't have one until this very minute. Now no one will care about any other issue. If you veto this, nothing you have done in Iraq will mean diddley squat. Your detractors will claim it was ALWAYS about oil. Your efforts in the war on terror will mean nothing.

You are breaking my heart. I claimed you would go down in history as one of our greatest Presidents ever. Your strength has inspired me. (Remember "You are either with us or with the enemy"? This is a country that refuses to recognize Israel and one of the few that recognized the Taliban. This is a country about which the Energy Information Administration of the United States says, "Iran is one of Dubai’s major trading partners, accounting for 20 percent to 30 percent of Dubai’s business," and 42% of the population is Iranian and Arabian...
