Andrea Yates 'Not Guilty' in Bizarro World America

If Andrea Yates is "not guilty" of murder after one by one drowning her children in their bathtub, how can anyone, anywhere, be found guilty of murder? If post partum depression is a legitimate excuse for murder, every woman has a built-in excuse to murder anyone who annoys her post partum, has she not?

Five precious little lives snuffed out and now no one is to blame for their murders. No one will pay the price for taking five innocent children's lives.

Instead, the state will pay for mental health care (that's us again) for this person and, eventually, the bleeding hearts will set her free to make more babies--more potential "non-murders by reason of insanity." The murderer, they'll say, is just another victim herself--and, therefore, not responsible for her actions.

This is just the saddest story. Just LOOK at their faces. Innocence. Smiles. Not a clue that evil was about to take their lives away before they knew it.

Was not she the murderer? Did she not take their little bodies into her own hands and hold them, screaming for help, under water until they stopped screaming, then stopped breathing, and then fell limp in her hands?

Is not her husband guilty of not doing something about her "condition" in time to save his children's lives? He says the jury decision is the right one. I hope he can sleep nights. Actually I hope he hears the screams of his children in his dreams for as long as he lives. And that he carries his guilt on his heart just as long.

Is not the jury and the court system responsible for giving this murderer a "pass?" Five "passes, in fact." We're asked to believe that she had temporary insanity five times, not just once.

A child should have reason to believe he or she is safe with his or her parent. If not there, where?

Justice was not served in the Andrea Yates case. Five innocent victims were in her care--the fruit of her loins--and she held each one under water until they died by her own hand. Each child's death was a murder and this jury's decision is criminal. I hope these "citizens" see the children's faces and hear their screams in their dreams as well. They did not do their civic duty. They shirked it and set a precedent that will turn into a horror for other children murdered by their post-partum mothers.
