Wright Shows Who's Boss

It seemed curious and, at first, incongruent that the Reverend Jeremiah Wright spoke in a way that could not possible benefit his protege, Barack Obama, yesterday at the DC National Press Club.

After sleeping on it, it became apparent that this quirky twist in the Democratic primary election process is nothing new...it's an example of the eternal struggle between powerful forces who wish to reign supreme.

My guess is that George Soros or Howard Dean or someone else who holds Obama's future in his hands demanded that he, Obama, more explicitly renounce the Reverend Wright so that he, Obama, could neutralize Wright's divisive comments during the upcoming primaries and, ultimately, the Presidential election.

So, Obama, probably with deep regret, goes to Chris Wallace on Fox News and says that Wright and his church are legitimate issues for voters' consideration in the course of his candidacy for President of the United States of America.

Wright, who expected to go the distance at the right hand of Obama, is furious to be "thrown under the bus" in this way.

An egotist who obviously loves basking in the light of the media, Wright thought he'd be playing a major role on the world stage. So he retaliates. He goes before the country at the National Press Club meeting and takes Barack down a peg or two. Just to show he can. And he thinks he can because he has become beloved by the national "angry black church set" for having the courage to tell their truth to the world. He got a 40 second standing O before he even said a word yesterday.

His comments about himself being a pastor before and after the November election, goes to underscore to his protege that the teacher has the power to take out the student, but the reverse is not so.

Wright will still be a pastor in December and Obama is still just his student--a student who is trading his teacher for his new mentors (Soros and Dean et al).

To move up the political ladder, something Wright is missing, is to leave behind loyalty to prior associates. The power brokers will not let you join their club unless your loyalty goes to their "club" first, last, and only.

Now Barack is stuck between the proverbial rock and a hard place. He has to denounce his mentor or risk losing political power. Just when he can almost taste it.

He's beginning to see what happens to people when they dare step out to reach for a position socially above their "families." Families, the people who you think understand and support your success, do not like it when one of their own leaves them behind to take advantage of opportunity. Family members become jealous and retaliate by taking whatever steps they have within their power to take their prodigal sons or daughters "down"--and back to where they came from.

If Wright is able to make Obama so unpalatable that it appears he will be unable to win the election in November against McCain, the big question is: what will Soros and Dean et al do? Will they make a deal with Hillary and the super delegates to back her again?

Because if they do, even though they turned their back on her to support Obama, she will deal. Because winning is what matters. It is all that matters.
