I know everyone has covered this, but I cannot let it go by without having my say, too.

Well, whether he ad libbed it or not, it was a very poor choice of words. He paused, thought about it, set up his joke and purposefully let it fly.

And he intended for viewers to connect his "lipstick" quote to Gov. Palin's "lipstick" punchline.

Sarah Palin (after the hockey mom joke at the convention) now owns the word "lipstick" and Barack Obama owns "community organizer." If someone now says either, you immediately think of the candidate who uttered it.

Reason this: If Obama did mean the connection should be drawn, he should expect to be held accountable for the slur. He should sincerely, and quite publicly, apologize. And we should recognize that he is not ready for prime time as the POTUS.

If he didn't mean the connection be made, he should have known better than to use these words at this time. And we should recognize that he is not ready for prime time as the POTUS.

If he didn't know better, then he has positively the least political insight of any politician at any time in history and is not ready for prime time as our POTUS.

Obama's audience absolutely made the connection. Just listen to their laughs at the double entendre they thought they just heard.
